Balasana

Balasana or Child’s Pose, is a kneeling restorative pose.

The arms can reach forward or back to wrap around the legs.

If you choose to reach the arms forward, keep the feet together but widen the knees to allow the chest to draw down toward the floor.

While this is a restorative pose, and the effect on the mind is relaxing and calming, the body is still active.

Balasana elongates the back and spine, opens the hips and stretches the thighs, ankles, arms and shoulders.

Move from Balasana up into table top pose, down dog, or into Bhujangasana (cobra pose), Sphinx or up dog.
